What is FDY fabric? Its Chinese name is FULLY DRAWN YARN, and its full name is fully drawn yarn. In Taiwan it is called full extension silk. It will introduce tension in the spinning process. At this strength, we can obtain a high degree of orientation and medium crystallinity of the winding silk, so called fully drawn silk. It is essentially a spinning process and does not refer to any particular material.

Generally, polyester and nylon are used in this process, which belong to chemical fiber filament, so the FDY heard in daily life refers to polyester fully drawn silk and nylon fully drawn silk. After this process, its fabric will tend to feel smooth and soft, so many manufacturers use this process to imitate real silk. The appearance of polyester FDY is very similar to that of natural silk fabric, making it difficult to distinguish the difference between real silk and polyester FDY fabric in appearance. The so-called imitation silk fabric essentially refers to FDY fabric, it has a wide range of uses in clothing fabrics and home textiles.

In addition to polyester, nylon FDY is also a commonly seen fabric. There are two kinds of processing of FDY filament nylon in China. One is the production method in mainland China, which uses nylon slicing to process into nylon particles before drawing, and the other is the production process in Taiwan, which directly uses nylon slicing and drawing, so the production cost in Taiwan is lower than ours. Their production process will also be more advanced, the final product has high stability, low lint rate, more uniform dyeing, is a relatively excellent FDY nylon fabric.
